# Pressando adds canonical-URL control so a syndicated press release keeps ranking on your own site

**Organizations publishing on Pressando can now mark the original source of a release, so search engines credit the source rather than the copy, and verified organizations get dofollow links back to their own site on every release.**

Pressando, the SEO-first press release platform, has added per-release canonical URL control, a feature aimed at organizations that publish the same release in more than one place.

When a press release appears on several sites, search engines have to decide which copy to rank. Without a signal, the copy can end up outranking the version on the organization's own site. Pressando now lets a publisher set a canonical URL on any release, pointing search engines to the original. The Pressando page then defers to that source, so the organization's own version keeps its ranking and the Pressando copy does not compete with it.

## Syndicate without cannibalizing your SEO

The control is optional and per release. Left blank, a Pressando release is its own canonical page, exactly as before. Set to an external address, it tells search engines where the original lives. That makes Pressando safe to use alongside an existing newsroom or wire: a release can be republished for reach without undermining the page the organization most wants to rank.

## Dofollow links for verified organizations

Pressando has also made its link policy follow an organization's status at the moment a page is rendered. Verified organizations, those that have confirmed control of their domain, get standard dofollow links from their release pages and profile back to their own site. The change applies to existing releases as well as new ones, with no need to republish.
